Motorcyclist Killed in SR-94 Crash Involving On-Duty Firefighter’s Personal Vehicle

CHP reports the firefighter driving a personal pickup turned left into the rider’s path outside Cal Fire Station 30.

Overview

The collision occurred around 8:30–8:45 a.m. Wednesday on the 17300 block of State Route 94 near Campbell Ranch Road in Dulzura.
CHP said the 30-year-old motorcyclist on a 2021 Yamaha was heading west when a 33-year-old firefighter in an eastbound 2023 Toyota Tacoma turned left into his path.
The rider was pronounced dead at the scene, and authorities have withheld his name pending family notification.
Paramedics took the firefighter, an Imperial Beach resident, to a San Diego hospital for treatment of minor injuries.
SR-94 was closed in both directions for investigation and clearing and reopened by 11:20 a.m., according to Caltrans, as CHP and Cal Fire continue the review.
