Motorcyclist Killed in SR-94 Crash Involving On-Duty Firefighter’s Personal Vehicle
CHP reports the firefighter driving a personal pickup turned left into the rider’s path outside Cal Fire Station 30.
Overview
- The collision occurred around 8:30–8:45 a.m. Wednesday on the 17300 block of State Route 94 near Campbell Ranch Road in Dulzura.
- CHP said the 30-year-old motorcyclist on a 2021 Yamaha was heading west when a 33-year-old firefighter in an eastbound 2023 Toyota Tacoma turned left into his path.
- The rider was pronounced dead at the scene, and authorities have withheld his name pending family notification.
- Paramedics took the firefighter, an Imperial Beach resident, to a San Diego hospital for treatment of minor injuries.
- SR-94 was closed in both directions for investigation and clearing and reopened by 11:20 a.m., according to Caltrans, as CHP and Cal Fire continue the review.
