Motorcyclist Killed in Provo Van Collision During Rush Hour

Police opened a DUI investigation into a separate nearby crash.

  • Provo Police say a northbound passenger van turned left at 1200 S and University Avenue around 6:35 p.m. Monday and collided with a southbound motorcycle.
  • The motorcyclist was taken to Utah Valley Hospital and died from injuries sustained in the crash, and no identifying details have been released.
  • While officers were responding, a second crash near 300 S on University Avenue struck the center island and blocked traffic.
  • The driver in the second crash sustained minor injuries, was transported to Utah Valley Hospital, and is the subject of a DUI inquiry.
  • Orem Police assisted Provo officers at both scenes, and southbound lanes that were closed for investigation have since reopened as the Traffic Accident Team continues its work.
