Overview

• The collision occurred around 8am on July 9 between a red Honda motorcycle and a blue Vauxhall Mokka on the A59 between Junction 47 and the Flaxby roundabout.
• North Yorkshire Police confirmed the rider, a man in his 40s, suffered fatal injuries and the car driver was taken to hospital for treatment.
• The crash blocked the A59 in both directions, causing severe delays for drivers heading to the Great Yorkshire Show.
• After hours of forensic examinations, the A59 reopened to traffic later on July 9.
• Police are urging anyone with information or dashcam footage to come forward and have deployed specially trained officers to support the victim’s family.
