Motorcyclist, 20, Killed After 101 Freeway Crash Near SR-126 in Ventura County

CHP is seeking witnesses to help determine why the rider lost control.

Overview

  • Dispatchers received reports just before 7:40 p.m. on Oct. 4 about a crash on northbound Highway 101 north of the State Route 126 interchange in Ventura.
  • CHP says the 20-year-old Camarillo rider lost control of a black Yamaha, was ejected into traffic lanes, and was struck in a secondary collision.
  • A Chevy Silverado driven by a 40-year-old Santa Barbara resident ran over the motorcycle, and a silver Nissan Sentra hit debris and the downed rider.
  • The rider suffered major injuries, was transported to Ventura County Medical Center, and later died; officials have not released her name.
  • Investigators have not determined the cause and ask witnesses to call the Ventura Area CHP at 805-662-2640, and part of the northbound 101 was closed for about an hour during the initial response.
