Mother Sentenced to 20 Years for Smothering Twin Daughters

Tenia Campbell, who has a history of mental health issues, admitted to the murders and was also sentenced for assaulting correction officers.

Tenia Campbell, a 28-year-old mother from New York, has been sentenced to 20 years to life in prison for smothering her 2-year-old twin daughters, Jasmine and Jaida, to death in 2019.
Campbell's mother, Vanessa McQueen, called 911 on the day of the murders, reporting that her daughter was threatening to kill herself and her daughters.
Campbell was found with her deceased daughters in her vehicle at the entrance to Montauk County Park, following a large-scale search by multiple police departments.
Campbell, who had a history of mental health issues including bipolar disorder, depression, and anxiety, admitted to the murders and pleaded guilty to two counts of first-degree murder in December.
In addition to the murder sentence, Campbell was also sentenced on additional charges of attempted assault for punching correction officers at the Suffolk County Jail.
