Mother Pleads Guilty to Smothering Twin Daughters

Tenia Campbell, found by police with her deceased children in the car, is expected to face 20 years to life in prison.

Tenia Campbell, a 28-year-old mother from Medford, New York, has pleaded guilty to two counts of first-degree murder for smothering her 2-year-old twin daughters, Jasmine and Jaida, in June 2019.
Campbell's mother had called 911 to report that her daughter was threatening to kill her daughters and herself, leading to a large-scale search for Campbell and her daughters.
Campbell was found by police in her van parked off Montauk Highway, where she demanded officers to 'shoot her.' The twin girls were found dead in their car seats.
Campbell is expected to be sentenced to 20 years to life in prison at a sentencing hearing due back in court on January 25.
Campbell's then-4-year-old son was in his father's custody at the time of her arrest.
