• Raja Drain, 28, was arrested Sept. 22 in Wethersfield, Connecticut during a domestic-related incident after police found a North Carolina warrant tied to her child’s death.
• A Bertie County grand jury indicted her on charges of murder and felony child abuse inflicting serious bodily injury.
• Drain appeared Tuesday in New Britain Superior Court, waived an extradition hearing, and had her bond increased to $2 million.
• Sheriff Tyrone Ruffin said 2-year-old Jamie Drain died from blunt force trauma to the head and that evidence contradicted the mother’s account of a fall.
• She remains in Connecticut custody awaiting transfer to North Carolina and also faces separate Connecticut counts including assault, disorderly conduct, breach of peace, criminal mischief, and violation of a protective order.
