Mother Files Wrongful Death Lawsuit Against Fraternity and Bar in 2021 Death of University of New Hampshire Student

Suit alleges student was served 17 drinks in less than four hours, was involved in a violent brawl at fraternity, and was left in a vulnerable state, leading to his death due to drowning and acute intoxication.

  • Vincenzo Lirosi, a 22-year-old University of New Hampshire student, was found dead in December 2021 due to drowning and acute intoxication.
  • His mother, Robin Lirosi, has filed a wrongful death lawsuit against Scorpion’s Bar & Grill, the Sigma Chi fraternity's UNH chapter, its national organization, and several individual members of the fraternity.
  • The lawsuit alleges that Lirosi was served 17 drinks at Scorpion’s Bar & Grill in under four hours on the night of his death, of which he consumed at least nine.
  • Lirosi, who was heavily intoxicated, was involved in a violent brawl at the Sigma Chi fraternity house, where he was punched, kicked and pushed to the ground.
  • Unable to protect himself, Lirosi was left to stumble into the nearby woods, where he drowned in a small body of water, with no member of the fraternity ensuring his safety, according to the lawsuit.
