Overview

• Emergency services were called just before 1pm Monday after a vehicle was allegedly torched in the driveway.
• The fire spread to a caravan and then engulfed the house as the occupant escaped through a window.
• Neighbours and firefighters worked to contain the blaze and protect adjoining properties as the house was left all but destroyed.
• A 20-year-old man who does not live at the address was tackled, handcuffed and detained at the scene.
• Witnesses told reporters the man said he acted because his parents would not pay for his TAFE course, and police have not yet laid charges.
