- An AMF/Cevipof–Sciences Po poll of more than 3,700 mayors, conducted online from October 1–29, was released on November 14.
- Intentions to seek re-election have rebounded to 58%, up from 42% in April 2025 and 49% measured before the 2020 vote.
- Mayors most often cite continuing local projects (79%) and serving the public interest (78%); willingness to run drops sharply with age, from 73% under 35 to 30% over 75.
- Local governance remains strained, with mayoral resignations exceeding 400 per year, roughly 1.6 councillor resignations per commune since 2020, and council disagreements frequently described as destabilizing.
- Reports of abuse are widespread, with 65% citing incivilities, 36% insults, 28% threats or attacks on social media, and 8% physical assaults.
