Overview
- The investigation began on February 7 when a failed marijuana transaction in Vilafranca del Penedès left a man with a gunshot wound
- Three suspects aged 24, 25 and 41 were arrested in Reus shortly afterward and provided information that led to their weapons supplier
- On July 1 the División de Investigación Criminal detained a 47-year-old in Miami Platja for trafficking and modifying historic arms
- Officers seized rifles, a machine gun, grenades, fuses, shell casings, antitank projectiles and artillery shells from the supplier’s residence
- Four individuals now face charges as authorities continue tracing the network linking Spanish Civil War munitions to regional drug operations
