Moscow Under Yellow Alert for Overnight Downpour and First Wet Snow

A private forecast warns some districts could see 17–27 mm, exceeding the Hydrometcentre’s outlook and heightening risks of slick roads and localized flooding.

Overview

  • The Hydrometcentre set a yellow danger level from 21:00 to 09:00 for Moscow and the region due to heavy rain, with wet snow expected in places.
  • Troitsky and Novomoskovsky districts are forecast to see rain mixing with wet snow as temperatures hover around +3 to +5°C in the city and 0 to +5°C across the region.
  • Official guidance calls for 8–13 mm of precipitation overnight, with winds shifting from southeast to north at roughly 7–12 m/s.
  • Moscow’s mayoralty urged people to avoid billboards, unstable structures and trees, and advised drivers to slow down, increase following distance and avoid sudden maneuvers or parking under trees.
  • Forecaster Evgeny Tishkovets (Phobos) projects 17–22 mm on Monday, locally 22–27 mm—about one-third of October’s norm—with periods of rain and wet snow continuing.
