Moscow Court Fines TBSS Executives 163.2 Million Rubles Each in Customs Bribery Case

Overview

• Sergey Khiryakov and Alexander Rakovsky were found guilty under Article 291 part 5 and each fined 163.2 million rubles after the court credited time spent in custody, down from an initial 165.2 million rubles.
• The court kept under arrest a 10.02-carat diamond valued at about 112.2 million rubles and placed it at the disposal of the Odintsovo investigative department.
• One of Khiryakov’s bank accounts holding more than 195.5 million rubles remains frozen, and authorities maintained arrests on his numismatic collection, while Rakovsky’s cars, accounts and real estate stay under restraint until the fines are enforced.
• The 2.36 million ruble cash bribe that Rakovsky handed over under police control for preferential customs processing was seized as evidence and has been confiscated to the state.
• Both defendants admitted guilt and did not appeal, and their previous restrictions were replaced with a travel pledge and good conduct order until the verdict takes legal effect.
