All four Moscow airports and a fifth in Kaluga briefly halted operations as officials cited unspecified safety measures.

Russia's aviation authority, Rosaviatsia, announced the temporary closure of Moscow's Sheremetyevo, Domodedovo, Vnukovo, and Zhukovsky airports, as well as Kaluga Airport, located 100 miles southwest of Moscow.
Officials did not specify the reason for the closures, stating only that the measures were taken to ensure the safety of civil aviation.
The closures coincided with heightened tensions following a missile strike on Ukraine's power grid and ongoing drone attacks in Russian regions bordering Ukraine.
Speculation surrounds the crash of an Azerbaijani Airlines flight the day prior, with reports suggesting it may have been mistakenly shot down by Russian air defenses during drone activity in Chechnya.
Moscow's airports reopened shortly after the closures, but Kaluga Airport remained shut as of Thursday afternoon.
