Morrissey Accuses Johnny Marr of Blocking Smiths Greatest Hits Release

The former Smiths frontman claims Marr halted the release of a planned greatest hits album and other reissues.

Morrissey alleges that Johnny Marr has blocked the release of a greatest hits album titled 'Smiths Rule OK!' as well as reissues of the band's early singles and debut album.
The proposed releases included a deluxe box set to commemorate the 40th anniversary of The Smiths' self-titled debut album.
Warner Records had approached Morrissey and designer Darren Evans to create artwork for the releases, which Morrissey claims Marr rejected.
Morrissey also stated that Marr ignored a lucrative offer from AEG Entertainment for a 2025 Smiths reunion tour.
Marr has not publicly responded to Morrissey's claims, and representatives for Marr have not returned requests for comment.
