Overview
- Morrisons confirmed a nationwide deployment of Auror’s digital system after testing it in about 50 Midlands supermarkets.
- The 12-week pilot produced 11 prosecutions for 35 crimes and showed 60% of repeat offenders targeted more than one store.
- The platform standardises incident reporting with CCTV stills, stolen goods lists and behaviour notes to build stronger police evidence.
- The company and Auror say the system avoids facial recognition and does not collect sensitive attributes such as race or sexual identity.
- The rollout comes as shoplifting rose 13% to an estimated 530,000 incidents in the year to June 2025, with Auror already used by chains including M&S, Boots, Home Bargains and Holland & Barrett.
