Overview
- Morena published the 17 convocatorias on Thursday and set a registration window from June 22 to June 27 with online slots on June 22, 23, 25, 26 and 27 and a single in-person day on June 25 at the WTC in Mexico City.
- The state coordinators will lead Comités de Defensa de la Transformación y la Soberanía Nacional and are positioned as the party’s territorial organizers and likely pool of 2027 gubernatorial contenders.
- The Comisión Nacional de Elecciones, led by Citlalli Hernández Mora, will validate documents, require separation from public or partisan posts, and can exclude registrants or reduce contenders to a maximum of six per state for the survey stage.
- Aspirants must meet strict eligibility rules including Mexican citizenship by birth, being at least 30 by June 6, 2027, clean records on sexual, gender and public-corruption crimes, and must sign consent for background checks.
- The convocatorias stress austerity by banning use of public funds and costly campaigning, require full-time availability for territorial work, and commit to announcing winners on morena.org no later than December 31, 2026.
