• Work officially began on August 30 at a ceremony led by Governor Alfredo Ramírez Bedolla and Mayor Alfonso Martínez.
• The project covers about 2,300 square meters and is financed entirely with state funds, according to Sedum.
• Plans call for a migration to a Digistar digital system with six 4K RGB laser projectors, a new 20‑meter projection dome, surround sound, large‑format playback capability, and a public telescope.
• Visitor amenities include seven interactive tunnel rooms with one dedicated to astronaut José Hernández, a videomapping dome, a terrace, a café, and a souvenir shop.
• A later phase will add children’s play areas and other interactive elements as the planetarium approaches its 50th anniversary.
