- FICM announced five additions to its Estrenos Internacionales slate: The Voice of Hind Rajab, La Grazia, The History of Sound, Hamnet and Rosemead.
- The Voice of Hind Rajab won Venice’s Grand Jury Prize and is Tunisia’s submission for Best International Feature, with Brad Pitt, Joaquin Phoenix, Rooney Mara, Alfonso Cuarón and Jonathan Glazer as executive producers.
- Hamnet, directed by Chloë Zhao and starring Paul Mescal and Jessie Buckley, adapts Maggie O’Farrell’s novel, took TIFF’s Audience Award and lists Steven Spielberg and Sam Mendes among its producers.
- Paolo Sorrentino’s La Grazia earned Venice’s Brian Prize and a Volpi Cup for acting with Toni Servillo starring, while Oliver Hermanus’s The History of Sound competed at Cannes with Paul Mescal and Josh O’Connor.
- Eric Lin’s debut feature Rosemead, which screened at Tribeca with Lucy Liu, joins the lineup as the festival runs Oct. 10–19 with Morelia and Pátzcuaro venues plus free virtual access via IMCINE’s nuestrocine.mx.
