Morelia Confirms 58 Tonnes of Waste Collected After Independence Festivities

The operation mobilized over 200 workers with roughly 30 vehicles.

  • Following the Sept. 15 Grito in the city center, 120 sanitation workers with 15 collection trucks removed about 46 tonnes of trash.
  • A second shift after the Sept. 16 civic‑military parade deployed 80 workers plus sweepers, mini tankers, motorcycles, three collection trucks and four support pickups, collecting around 12 tonnes.
  • Crews concentrated on the Centro Histórico, including the first cuadro and the parade route.
  • The response was coordinated by the Secretaría de Servicios Públicos through the Dirección de Residuos Sólidos under Mayor Alfonso Martínez Alcázar.
  • Officials presented the figures as part of a stated commitment to keep public spaces in optimal condition.
