Overview
- CAME's survey of the Aug. 15–17 long weekend found 1,074,171 people traveled nationwide, a 24.2% increase over the comparable 2023 holiday.
- Total direct spending fell to AR$245.9 billion, a 6.3% decline in real terms compared with the same long weekend in 2023.
- Average stay shortened from 2.3 to 2.0 days and average daily spending per tourist dropped to AR$114,464, down 13.2% in real terms.
- Occupancy varied sharply by destination: San Carlos de Bariloche nearly 100%, Santiago del Estero 100%, Jujuy 83% and Tandil 90%, while coastal resorts such as Mar del Plata and Pinamar hovered around 45%.
- Through seven long weekends in 2026 about 11.45 million travelers generated AR$3.08 trillion in direct impact, a pattern that suggests provinces that rely on longer stays and higher per-visitor spending may need targeted promotions to restore pre-pandemic revenue levels.
