Overview
- Federal agents executed a court-authorized operation around 2–3 a.m. on Nov. 16 at San Pedro Avenue and Basse Road, detaining more than 140 people.
- FBI San Antonio and Homeland Security Investigations said the detainees, from Venezuela, Honduras, Mexico and other South American countries, were transferred to ICE custody.
- Authorities framed the raid as an early action of the newly created Homeland Security Task Force–South Texas established under Executive Order 14159.
- Officials said the operation disrupted Tren de Aragua’s criminal presence and credited a Texas Department of Public Safety investigation that led to a state search warrant.
- Local video captured smoke, loud bangs, handcuffs and towed vehicles, and more than 100 residents protested the next day, demanding transparency on detainee status and potential charges.
