Overview
- Flávio Dino, newly presiding over the STF First Panel, will open the trial of the so‑called nucleus 4 on Oct. 14, with sessions also set for Oct. 15, 21 and 22.
- Alexandre de Moraes formally asked Dino to schedule an in‑person trial for nucleus 2 after the close of evidence and final arguments by the PGR and defenses.
- Nucleus 2 comprises Filipe Martins, Marcelo Câmara, Mário Fernandes, Silvinei Vasques, Fernando de Sousa Oliveira and Marília de Alencar, whom prosecutors accuse of managing operational actions in the alleged plot.
- Moraes rejected a new defense request to revoke Jair Bolsonaro’s house arrest, citing risk of flight and repeated violations, and kept bans on phone and social media use plus passport retention.
- A U.S. Customs and Border Protection note said it found no record of Filipe Martins entering the U.S. on Dec. 30, 2022 and identified an erroneous entry record, a point now at issue as the PGR also seeks provisional release for defendant Divanio Natal Gonçalves in a separate case.
