Overview
- Alexandre de Moraes ordered Alagoas to deliver the complete electronic monitoring record for Fernando Collor within 24 hours, covering the entire period since his house arrest began on May 1.
- The Supreme Court only learned in October that Collor’s ankle monitor was off for about 36 hours, from the morning of May 2 to the evening of May 3, due to a dead battery.
- The Alagoas secretariat blamed the late notice on not knowing the minister’s institutional email and on administrative caution, denied any intent to conceal, and said the requested reports have now been sent.
- Moraes said the delay violates a court order, warned the omission could constitute the crime of disobedience, and informed the Prosecutor General’s Office.
- Separately, he gave Collor’s lawyers five days to explain the lapse under threat of imprisonment; Collor was convicted in 2023 and is on house arrest because of age and health conditions with an electronic monitor requirement.
