Moosburg Opens Two Public Drinking Fountains and Walk-Through Play Fountain

Using a closed-loop filtration system under scheduled hours, the new walk-through play basin kicks off Moosburg’s expansion of public water amenities with a third drinking station slated for Neustadt this autumn.

Overview

  • Stainless-steel drinking-water dispensers at the Plan plaza by Kastulus-Münster and in Bonau began offering free tap water to residents and visitors this summer.
  • The walk-through fountain at the Plan operates on a recirculating filtration system with jets up to two meters and LED lighting during set hours to ensure safe play.
  • A third public drinking-water fountain is planned for the Neustadt district and is expected to be operational by autumn 2025.
  • The installations stem from a cross-party 2023 Stadtrat proposal championed by Benedict Gruber, Verena Beibl, Julian Grübl and Karin Linz and funded in the 2024 budget.
  • The Freistaat Bayern subsidy covers up to 90 percent of installation costs for two fountains per municipality through 2028, supporting Moosburg’s heat-resilience and public-health measures in line with a wider regional trend.
