Overview

  • Christian Moore was activated from the 10-day injured list after spraining his left thumb on July 2 and started at second base in Sunday’s series finale.
  • Mike Trout returned as the designated hitter following a two-game absence due to illness but remains unable to play the outfield because of a knee bone bruise.
  • With Moore, Yoán Moncada and Luis Rengifo all active for the first time this season, Montgomery plans to deploy Rengifo occasionally in right field.
  • Scott Kingery was optioned to Triple-A Salt Lake to open a roster spot for Moore and newly acquired Oswald Peraza offers additional infield depth after a trade with the Yankees.
  • Right-hander Robert Stephenson has completed two bullpen sessions and needs about three more before facing hitters while Jorge Soler remains inactive with a back issue.
