Overview

  • On Juneteenth, Moore issued an executive clemency order pardoning 6,938 simple cannabis possession cases that were missed last year due to data coding errors
  • Starting July 1, 419 census tracts will be designated as “Just Communities” to receive priority consideration for state housing, broadband and small business programs
  • The $400 million allocation for Department of Housing and Community Development programs aims to repair harms from redlining, highway construction and mass incarceration
  • In May, Moore vetoed legislation to establish a Maryland Reparations Commission, saying he preferred direct policy action over additional studies
  • Legislative Black Caucus members, led by Jheanelle Wilkins, are organizing to override the veto and push for a formal reparations study
