Moore Names Biff Poggi Interim as Two-Game Suspension Begins Saturday

The ban follows NCAA findings that he deleted text messages with Connor Stalions during the sign-stealing probe.

Overview

  • The suspension runs from 12:01 a.m. Saturday, Sept. 13, through 11:59 p.m. Saturday, Sept. 20, covering games vs. Central Michigan and at Nebraska.
  • Associate head coach Biff Poggi, a former Charlotte head coach and longtime Michigan aide, will lead the Wolverines for both contests.
  • Sherrone Moore said Chip Lindsey will direct the offense, Wink Martindale the defense, and J. B. Brown special teams during his absence.
  • Moore will coach practices this week but will be barred from all team activities once the suspension starts, and he has not decided how he will watch Saturday’s game.
  • The infractions case that triggered the ban also produced an eight-year show-cause for Connor Stalions and a 10-year penalty for Jim Harbaugh, with Michigan now 1-1 and ranked No. 23 after losing at Oklahoma.
