Overview
- Digital Sun and publisher 11 bit studios announced on Wednesday, August 5 that Moonlighter 2: The Endless Vault will exit Early Access and reach version 1.0 on September 2, 2026.
- To build an audience before the sequel arrives, the original 2018 Moonlighter is free to claim on Steam from August 5 through August 9 and a playable demo of Moonlighter 2 is available now across platforms.
- The 1.0 update concludes the main narrative and adds concrete gameplay systems including new weapons and armor, the Bomb Path ability that makes hit enemies explode, a final shop progression with extra slots and cosmetics, an Infinite Endless Vault roguelike postgame, and a Hardcore permadeath mode.
- Moonlighter 2 will launch digitally on Steam and the Microsoft Store, on PlayStation 5, Xbox Series X|S with Xbox Game Pass support, and on Nintendo Switch 2, with physical Standard and Collector’s Editions from Silver Lining slated for November 13.
- The promotion leans on the original game’s strong reputation—Very Positive Steam ratings and an ~81 Metacritic score—to draw players into a broader release window and raise the sequel’s visibility during a crowded fall slate.
