Moonlighter 2 Leaves Early Access for September 2 1.0 Launch

Its 1.0 release closes the main story while expanding replayability with an Infinite Endless Vault postgame and a Hardcore permadeath mode.

Overview

  • Developer Digital Sun and publisher 11 bit studios confirmed a full 1.0 launch for Moonlighter 2: The Endless Vault on September 2, 2026 across PC (Steam and Microsoft Store), PlayStation 5, Xbox Series X|S, and Nintendo Switch 2 with Game Pass availability.
  • To draw players ahead of the sequel, the original 2018 Moonlighter is free to claim on Steam from August 5 through August 9, 2026, and a playable demo of Moonlighter 2 is available now on all platforms.
  • Version 1.0 completes the main campaign and adds explicit features including new weapons and armor, the Bomb Path combat ability that makes enemies explode after hits, an Infinite Endless Vault roguelike postgame, and a Hardcore permadeath difficulty.
  • A physical release handled by Silver Lining will follow on November 13, 2026 with Standard and Collector’s Editions for Switch 2, PS5, and PC, and digital pre-orders include a limited launch discount and demo access.
  • The sequel marks a clear shift from the 2018 pixel-art game to an isometric 3D design with deeper, node-based combat and a year-long Early Access period used to refine progression and quality-of-life systems, a change that could broaden audience reach but also faces a crowded late-year release window.
