Overview

  • Seven of the strike’s nine days saw more than 80,000 daily trips, with a peak of 98,500 rides on June 11 surpassing 2024’s single-day record.
  • A strike by 2,400 transit maintenance workers from June 9 to 17 curtailed bus and metro service outside peak hours, driving commuters to bike sharing.
  • BIXI deployed ‘valets’ at docking stations to accept returns when stations overflowed and used extra trucks to rebalance its fleet.
  • Riders covered about 2.2 million kilometres on BIXI bikes during the strike, equivalent to circling the globe 54 times.
  • A company survey found that 86 percent of first-time users during the strike intend to continue using BIXI services.
