Montreal Police Search for Suspect in Alleged Kidnapping and Attempted Murder

The incident began Friday morning in Mount Royal, an affluent suburb of Montreal, where the woman was reportedly forced into a car by the suspect.
The vehicle later plunged into the Richelieu River, where firefighters rescued the woman, who was treated for hypothermia and non-life-threatening injuries.
Police have deployed scuba divers to search the river after a witness reported seeing a man swimming away from the submerged vehicle.
Authorities are offering a $3,000 reward for information leading to Maalala's arrest and are urging the public to contact them with any tips.
