Monterrey Launches Fare-Free Regio Ruta Route D Ahead of Network Expansion

Registration for the electronic access card is open in preparation for the launch of four new circuits on August 4.

Overview

  • Route D began operating this week with zero fares, linking Obispado, Macroplaza and Fundidora as part of a five-circuit plan covering over 320 neighborhoods.
  • The fleet features new, locally assembled buses equipped with air conditioning, Wi-Fi, video surveillance and panic buttons for rider safety.
  • Riders can obtain a free electronic access card at Municipal Attention Centers using official ID and proof of address, unlocking discounts at partner businesses.
  • Service runs Monday through Saturday from 5:00 to 23:00 hours and on Sundays and holidays from 7:00 to 23:00 hours, with 15–20 minute frequencies on weekdays and 25 minutes on weekends.
  • Starting August 4, routes A, B, C and E will begin phased activation to serve sectors including Mederos, La Alianza, San Bernabé and Colonia Moderna.
