Monstropolis Façades, Plazas and Restaurants Move Toward Phase‑One Readiness

Disney is sequencing work so guest-facing shops, eateries and the new Glob Theater show reach opening readiness for 2027 while the Door Vault coaster is finished in a later phase.

Overview

  • Recent on-site work in October 2026 shows detailed scenic painting across Monstropolis façades, including tooth-like trim, scaled shingles and hand-painted brick and mortar that create the land’s monster-inspired look.
  • Ground-level infrastructure has advanced with poured concrete, the first entrance bricks, an octagonal fountain forming in the main plaza and low courtyard walls being built near Archie’s Scare Pig Pizza and the former Stage 1 Company Store.
  • A Notice of Commencement permit filed for Harryhausen’s signals active construction on the new table-service restaurant that will replace Mama Melrose’s and that the work has been assigned to Artistic Entertainment Services.
  • The Glob Theater will host a new show titled Welcome to Monstropolis! With Sulley & Mike featuring an original song by Randy Newman, and Disney is preparing the theater and nearby retail for the phased 2027 openings.
  • The Door Vault door coaster — Disney’s first suspended coaster using a vertical lift — remains under heavy construction in an expanded show building beyond the park’s original footprint and has no public opening date as it is planned for a later phase.
