Overview

  • Delhi’s AQI has remained in the “satisfactory” range on July 28, marking its cleanest July in a decade, according to CPCB readings.
  • The India Meteorological Department forecasts light to moderate rain and isolated thunderstorms through July 30, with daytime highs of 33–35°C and lows of 26–28°C.
  • Heavy downpours on the night of July 28 triggered waterlogging in areas such as Vasant Vihar, causing traffic slowdowns and commuter disruptions.
  • Ongoing monsoon showers and gusty winds are washing away particulate matter and dispersing residual pollutants, sustaining the recent air quality gains.
  • Record rains in May and above-average June rainfall primed Delhi for a strong monsoon season that is now offering relief ahead of the usual post-monsoon pollution spike.
