Overview

  • On July 17, SMN issued yellow alerts in Argentine provinces from Buenos Aires to Tierra del Fuego for heavy rain, strong winds with gusts up to 100 km/h and extreme temperatures.
  • Mexican forecasts warn of very strong to intense rainfall, electrical discharges and possible hail in Jalisco, Colima and Michoacán, with heavy to very heavy rains nationwide.
  • Northeast Baja California is expected to see maximum temperatures of 40–45 °C as lingering Pacific low-pressure and monsoon moisture raise heat and humidity levels.
  • Protección Civil agencies in both countries advise residents to stay hydrated, limit outdoor activities during peak conditions and secure loose objects against gusty winds.
  • Meteorologists caution that monsoon flows and Pacific low systems could continue fueling sudden storms and high humidity in northwestern Mexico into August and early September.
