Overview

  • The National Highways & Infrastructure Development Corporation Ltd. closed NH-10 between Sevoke (km 2.0) and Rangpo (km 2.5) from 6 pm July 7 to 6 pm July 8 for safety after fresh slides.
  • A landslide near the Coronation Bridge and SNT Jhora early Monday crushed a taxi but left the passengers and driver unhurt; debris was cleared by mid-morning.
  • Authorities have urged travellers to avoid the SevokeRangpo section around Kalijhoda due to continuing boulder falls; traffic is diverted onto alternative hill roads.
  • Northeast Frontier Railway has suspended train movement between Mupa and Dihakho in Assam’s Lumding Division, canceling key long-distance services including the Guwahati–Silchar Express and the Sealdah–Silchar Kanchanjunga Express.
  • The Indian Meteorological Department forecasts 7–11 cm of rainfall for July 9 in Jalpaiguri, Kalimpong and Alipurduar districts, raising the risk of further hill slope failures.
