  • The India Meteorological Department has issued a red alert for Raigad and ghat areas of Pune and Satara alongside orange warnings for Mumbai, Thane, Palghar, Ratnagiri and Sindhudurg.
  • In the 24 hours to Monday, Mumbai’s city zone logged 95 mm of rain while western and eastern suburbs saw 75 mm and 58 mm, triggering widespread waterlogging.
  • Heavy downpours forced flight delays and slow-moving suburban trains as low-lying roads turned into impassable stretches.
  • Since June 1, rain-related incidents across Maharashtra have claimed 18 lives and injured 65 people, underscoring growing monsoon risks.
  • The IMD forecasts continued heavy to very heavy rains in Konkan and other parts of Maharashtra through June 18 and has urged fishermen to remain ashore because of squally coastal winds.
