Monica Wright Rogers Named First GM of WNBA’s Toronto Tempo

The former WNBA player and Phoenix Mercury assistant GM will lead the league's 14th franchise, set to debut in 2026.

Monica Wright Rogers has been appointed as the inaugural general manager of the Toronto Tempo, the WNBA's newest expansion team.
Wright Rogers, a two-time WNBA champion, played seven seasons in the league, primarily with the Minnesota Lynx, before transitioning to management and coaching roles.
She most recently served as assistant general manager for the Phoenix Mercury, where she gained significant front-office experience.
The Toronto Tempo, owned by Kilmer Sports Ventures and led by team president Teresa Resch, will begin play in the 2026 season alongside a new Portland-based franchise.
Wright Rogers' immediate tasks include selecting a head coach, managing the team's first rookie draft, and preparing for the upcoming WNBA expansion draft.
