Mongolia and Finland Sign Ten Cooperation Pacts on State Visit

The agreements aim to fast-track education exchanges, green-energy, building-technology cooperation, with scholarships, KiVa pilots, joint technology studies set to begin.

Overview

  • Presidents U. Khurelsukh and Alexander Stubb signed ten memoranda and declarations on October 23 covering education, culture, regional partnerships, building methods and energy technology.
  • A Finland–Mongolia business forum in Helsinki brought government and private-sector representatives together to discuss trade, investment and project matchmaking that could turn the new agreements into concrete deals.
  • Education measures include university partnerships, presidential scholarships to study at Turku and University of Eastern Finland, introduction of the KiVa anti-bullying programme and adoption of an AI-based learning platform from Eduten.
  • Private firms signed memoranda to test Finnish timber building methods and energy solutions, including district-heat storage technology and energy-efficiency homes, with feasibility studies and pilot projects planned.
  • The visit—the first Mongolian presidential trip to Finland in 11 years—opens a path for implementation steps such as funding talks, technical studies and pilot rollouts that could affect students, builders and Mongolia’s cleaner-energy plans.
