MoneyGram Named Anchor Validator on Tempo's Layer 1 Blockchain
The designation brings stablecoin-based on-chain settlement into MoneyGram’s systems to speed cross-border payments and simplify corporate treasury operations.
Overview
- MoneyGram was confirmed on Wednesday to be Tempo’s anchor remittance validator, meaning it will run validator nodes that verify and process remittance transactions on Tempo’s Layer 1 mainnet.
- As anchor validator, MoneyGram will integrate stablecoin rails into its global settlement infrastructure to shorten settlement times and make liquidity easier to manage for cross-border transfers.
- MoneyGram joins an institutional validator group that includes Stripe, Visa and Zodia Custody and will link with crypto infrastructure partners such as Kraken and Fireblocks to route on-chain and off-chain flows.
- Tempo’s architecture includes privacy-enabled, permissioned Zones for payroll, treasury and settlement use cases, which MoneyGram can use to operate regulated, enterprise-grade payment workflows.
- The partnership could lower delays and costs for senders and receivers on major remittance corridors and may reduce reliance on traditional correspondent banking by moving high-volume settlement onto interoperable stablecoin rails.
