Apple TV+'s new series 'Monarch: Legacy of Monsters' is a spinoff from the MonsterVerse, focusing on the secretive organization Monarch that tracks and studies giant monsters.
The series takes place after the 2014 'Godzilla' film and also flashes back to the 1950s, following a pair of siblings uncovering their family's connection to Monarch.
Kurt Russell and his son Wyatt Russell play the same character, Lee Shaw, at different ages in the series. Shaw is a former Army officer and current Monarch prisoner.
The series has been praised for its focus on human drama and character development, alongside the expected monster spectacle.
The first two episodes of 'Monarch: Legacy of Monsters' premiered on Friday, November 17, with new episodes releasing weekly through January 12, 2024.
