Monad Mainnet Launches as MON Lists on Major Exchanges, Early Trading Slips Below Sale Price

Investor concern over a small float plus large insider allocations weighed on the debut.

Overview

  • Monad’s layer-1 network went live on Nov. 24 with an airdrop, putting about 10.83 billion MON (10.8% of the 100 billion supply) into circulation, with reports citing roughly 225,000 recipients.
  • MON traded around $0.024 in opening hours versus the $0.025 public sale price, with roughly $50 million in volume in the first 100 minutes and an initial market cap near $262 million.
  • Listings began immediately on Coinbase, Bybit, Upbit and Bithumb, and staking launched alongside mainnet with initial yields reported near 15–16%.
  • Prior to launch, Monad raised $269 million from 85,820 buyers via a Coinbase-hosted sale that was about 1.43x oversubscribed.
  • Token allocation includes 27% to the team, 19.7% to investors, 38.5% to ecosystem development and 4% to a treasury, a structure drawing community scrutiny over future sell pressure.
