A local Moms for Liberty chapter in Pennsylvania has severed ties with the national organization due to rape allegations against co-founder Bridget Ziegler’s husband, Christian Ziegler, who is also the Florida GOP Chairman.
The allegations surfaced after a woman reported that Christian Ziegler raped her following a cancelled consensual sexual encounter with the couple.
The Northumberland County chapter is in the process of being re-founded as a new organization, with its chair citing the national organization’s controversies and lack of assistance as reasons for the split.
Moms for Liberty, founded in 2021, has been controversial due to its opposition to mask and vaccine mandates in schools and its campaigning for bans on books related to LGBTQ rights and critical race theory.
Despite the allegations and calls for his resignation from numerous Florida politicians, Christian Ziegler has denied the allegations and refused to step down from his position.
