MoMA to Honor Sofia Coppola With 2025 Film Benefit Presented by Chanel

The museum is pairing the tribute with a complete retrospective of her films in New York.

Overview

  • The benefit is scheduled for Nov. 12 in New York City and is presented by Chanel.
  • MoMA will screen all nine of Coppola’s features plus her 1998 short “Lick the Star” from Oct. 30 to Nov. 16 at the Roy and Niuta Titus Theaters.
  • The evening will feature a pre-dinner presentation of her work with remarks from high-profile friends and collaborators.
  • Proceeds support MoMA’s department of film, which maintains more than 30,000 films and 1.5 million stills.
  • Chanel has sponsored the Film Benefit since 2011 and is MoMA’s lead film sponsor, as Coppola stays active with her A24 documentary “Marc by Sofia,” which premiered at Venice without a set wide release.
