Mohammed Fathi Eltbie Remanded After First Court Appearance in Winton Rape Case

  • Following enquiries, 24-year-old Bournemouth resident Mohammed Fathi Eltbie was arrested and charged with rape.
  • Poole Magistrates’ Court refused bail and remanded Eltbie in custody ahead of the December 18 Crown Court hearing.
  • Prosecutors told the court he is an Egyptian national who entered the UK in July 2023 and whose asylum application was refused in January.
  • The defence said he denies the allegation and claims the encounter was consensual, as police continue to support the complainant and urge against online speculation.
