- In a post on X, Prime Minister Narendra Modi wrote, “Best wishes to Punjab CM Shri Bhagwant Mann Ji on his birthday. May he be blessed with a long and healthy life.”
- Born in 1973 in Satoj in Punjab’s Sangrur district, Mann built early name recognition as a comedian on Punjabi television and through The Great Indian Laughter Challenge, and he acted in the National Award–winning film Main Maa Punjab Dee.
- He entered politics with the People’s Party of Punjab and contested the Lehra Assembly seat in 2012 before joining AAP at Arvind Kejriwal’s invitation after the PPP merged with Congress.
- He won the Sangrur Lok Sabha seat in 2014 by defeating S.S. Dhindsa, retained it in 2019, and remained AAP’s sole MP from Punjab.
- He was sworn in as Punjab chief minister on March 16, 2022 after winning Dhuri by more than 58,000 votes, and he earlier pledged to give up alcohol following criticism over alleged inebriation in Parliament.
