Overview
- The Prime Minister is scheduled to inaugurate and launch works worth over Rs 18,000 crore across the two states, with about Rs 13,000 crore in Bihar and over Rs 5,200 crore in Kolkata–Howrah.
- In Bihar, the Aunta–Simaria NH-31 project spans 8.15 km including a 1.86 km six-lane Ganga bridge built for roughly Rs 1,870 crore, linking Mokama with Begusarai and eliminating detours of more than 100 km for heavy vehicles.
- Kolkata will see 13.61 km of new Metro sections opened — Noapara–Jai Hind Bimanbandar, Sealdah–Esplanade and Beleghata–Hemanta Mukhopadhyay — with the Prime Minister set to ride the airport link and the Sealdah–Esplanade run cutting travel to about 11 minutes.
- Additional launches include a new subway at Howrah Metro Station and the foundation stone for the 7.2 km six-lane elevated Kona Expressway, a project pegged at over Rs 1,200 crore to bolster Howrah–Kolkata connectivity.
- Other Bihar projects on the docket feature the 660 MW Buxar Thermal Power Plant, the Homi Bhabha Cancer Hospital in Muzaffarpur, sewerage works in Munger, NH-31 and NH-120 upgrades, housing handovers under PMAY, and the flagging off of the Amrit Bharat Express (Gaya–Delhi) and a Buddhist Circuit Train (Vaishali–Koderma).
