Modi Unveils Rs 62,000-Crore Youth Push, Launches PM-SETU and Bihar-Focused Measures

Overview

  • PM-SETU, a Rs 60,000 crore scheme to upgrade 1,000 government ITIs in a 200-hub/800-spoke model, was launched with World Bank and ADB support and an initial focus on Patna and Darbhanga.
  • The Prime Minister inaugurated 1,200 vocational skill labs in Navodaya Vidyalayas and Eklavya Model Residential Schools across 34 states and UTs, alongside training for 1,200 vocational teachers under NEP 2020.
  • For Bihar, a revamped allowance will provide Rs 1,000 per month for two years plus free skill training to about five lakh graduates annually, and a redesigned Student Credit Card offers interest-free loans up to Rs 4 lakh.
  • PM Modi dedicated NIT Patna’s Bihta campus with a 5G use-case lab, an ISRO-linked Regional Academic Centre for Space, and an incubation centre, and inaugurated the Jan Nayak Karpoori Thakur Skill University.
  • Over 4,000 Bihar government recruits received appointment letters, and Rs 450 crore in scholarships was transferred via DBT to 25 lakh Class 9–10 students under the Mukhyamantri Balak/Balika schemes.
