Modi Unveils Rs 50,000-Crore Push in Odisha, Dedicates Rail Upgrades and Flags Off Amrit Bharat Express

  • In Jharsuguda on Saturday, the Prime Minister launched and dedicated railway works worth over Rs 1,700 crore, including line doubling and a flyover.
  • The Sambalpur City–Sarla rail flyover received foundation stone approval at Rs 273 crore to decongest the busy Sambalpur–Jharsuguda corridor.
  • The Koraput–Baiguda doubling (34 km, Rs 481 crore) and Manabar–Koraput–Gorapur doubling (82 km, Rs 955 crore) were dedicated to improve freight and passenger flows.
  • An Amrit Bharat Express service between Brahmapur and Udhna (Surat) was flagged off to link Odisha with western India via Andhra Pradesh, Chhattisgarh and Maharashtra.
  • The wider package included reported allocations for IIT expansions (Rs 11,000 crore to add 12,000 seats), Odisha Skill Development Phase‑II (Rs 1,979 crore), medical‑college upgrades (~Rs 3,000 crore), campus Wi‑Fi (Rs 90 crore) and 50,000 Antyodaya Gruha sanction orders.
